Requirements

Mac only.
On purpose.

HexPic is built straight onto macOS screen-capture and color-management APIs. That's the only way to read a pixel in its true display color space — and it's why there is no Windows, iOS, or web version, and won't be.

Fair questions

How do I get it after paying?

You're taken straight to the download, and your licence key follows by email shortly after. Drop HexPic in your Applications folder, paste the key into Settings → License once, and you're done.

macOS says it can't verify HexPic — is that normal?

Yes, for now. HexPic isn't notarized by Apple yet (that's a paid Apple Developer Program step we haven't taken), so the first time you open it macOS shows a warning instead of opening it outright. It's not a sign anything's wrong — right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications, choose Open, then confirm in the dialog that appears. You only need to do this once. If macOS doesn't offer an Open button, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and look for HexPic near the bottom of the page.

Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Yes. One purchase covers every Mac you personally own — desktop, laptop, and the one in the cupboard. If you're buying for other people, that's what the volume licence is for.

Are updates really free?

Yes. Every update to HexPic is included in the one purchase. There's no upgrade fee and no "pro" tier waiting behind it.

What's your refund policy?

Email within 14 days of purchase and you'll get the full $1.99 back, no questions asked. There's also a free trial, so ideally it never comes to that.

Is it on the Mac App Store or Setapp?

Not today — HexPic is sold direct, which is part of how it stays at $1.99. It's code-signed; full Developer ID notarization is on the way as the project grows.

Why is it so cheap?

Because it's a small app made by one person, and the price should reflect that. A picker that grabs one pixel shouldn't cost more than a coffee, and pretending otherwise is how good little tools end up unused.
