Requirements

Mac only.
On purpose.

HexPic is built straight onto macOS screen-capture and color-management APIs. That's the only way to read a pixel in its true display color space — and it's why there is no Windows, iOS, or web version, and won't be.

Fair questions

How do I get it after paying?

You're taken straight to the download, and a licence key lands in your inbox at the same time. Drop HexPic in your Applications folder, paste the key once, and you're done.

Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Yes. One purchase covers every Mac you personally own — desktop, laptop, and the one in the cupboard. If you're buying for other people, that's what the volume licence is for.

Are updates really free?

Yes. Every update to HexPic is included in the one purchase. There's no upgrade fee and no "pro" tier waiting behind it.

What's your refund policy?

Email within 14 days of purchase and you'll get the full $1.99 back, no questions asked. There's also a free trial, so ideally it never comes to that.

Is it on the Mac App Store or Setapp?

Not today — HexPic is sold direct, which is part of how it stays at $1.99. It's signed and notarized by Apple either way, so macOS treats it exactly like an App Store download at launch.

Why is it so cheap?

Because it's a small app made by one person, and the price should reflect that. A picker that grabs one pixel shouldn't cost more than a coffee, and pretending otherwise is how good little tools end up unused.
